A little Progress report

over this past week i have been constantly working withreactivison and ableton live 7 in a desperate effort to get them working together.

i can now happily say ...... i have managed it!

i have successfully managed to link the TUIO client in MAX/MSP with ableton live 7. This allows me to begin to experiment with the xml coding that is need to command the fiducial markers. i will now move on and begin playing around with the reactable desktop demo that i have downloaded from the reactivison website . this acts as an on screen reactable that allows you to create functions without having to test them on an actual table.

i can now move onto creating the samples i need for thefiducial controls. so over the next week or so i will hopefully have the right sounding beats i need.

watch this space.... as i will upload some concept art and sketches that may come into my head whilst experimenting.

The First Few steps

So.... after many months of deep thinking I have decided to focus my Final University Project on the Reactable. If any of you newbies are not familiar with this product then please feel free to check out their website at:

http://www.reactable.com/

"The
Reactable is a revolutionary new electronic musical instrument designed to create and perform the music of today and tomorrow. It combines state of the art technologies with a simple and intuitive design, which enables musicians to experiment with sound, change its structure, control its parameters and be creative in a direct and refreshing way, unlike anything you have ever known before."

The programs i wish to use to accomplish this project are:

  • Reactivison
  • Ableton Live 7
  • (or) Reason 4
